The regulations of the mineral and petroleum resources development are stipulated under the mineral and petroleum resources development act of 2002. It contains detailed schedules on mineral and petroleum, social and environmental regulations; regulations for development of mineral exploration and production; social and labor plan; pollution control and waste management; appeals; and transitional arrangements.

This represents the agricultural products for the purposes of the marketing of agricultural products act of 1996. It also highlights customs tariff classifications and product descriptions.

Pesticide use allows for abundant supply of food items and control of public health hazards and nuisance pests. They however also cause undesireable side effects – due to their biological nature – on workers, consumers, community health and safety, ground and surface water bodies, and wildlife organisms. The policy aims to revise and re-evaluate the over 3000 pesticides products approved for use in South Africa, as enshrined in the fertilisers, farm feeds, agricultural remedies, and stock remedies act. It provides information, and will serve as guideline framework to ensure the full life-cycle of pesticides – from production process to disposal – is positioned to minimise the adverse effects on health and the environment.

The notice amends the control measures of the agricultural pests act. It substitutes table 10 of the control measures with a fees payable table.

Amendment of regulations published in the marine living resources act of 1998. Regulation 51, pertaining to age limits for obtaining permits, and annexure two of the regulations are altered.

The entire Port Elizabeth Corals marine protected area is zoned as a single restricted zone, which is determined using the World Geodetic System (WGS) of 1984. The regulations stipulate that no scientific research within the protected area shall be carried out except with a research permit issued by the Minister. It lists out the general restrictions within the protected area.

The Protea marine protected area contains one offshore controlled zone, one offshore controlled-pelagic linefish zone, and one offshore restricted zone; which are all determined using the World Geodetic System (WGS) of 1984. The regulations stipulate that no scientific research within the protected area shall be carried out except with a research permit issued by the Minister. It lists out the general restrictions within the protected area. A fish list pertaining to the controlled-pelagic linefish zone is attached in the annexures of the regulations.

The amendment declares that the provisions of the plant improvement act shall apply to plants of all kinds specified in schedule B , and crosses of such plants, excluding plants for ornamental or decorative purposes; and seed of all plants specified in schedule C, excluding plants used for ornamental or recreational purposes.

The regulations are made under the mountain catchment areas act of 1970. The regulations enshrined in the notice relates to; constitution and composition of Fire Protection Committees; advisory committees for mountain catchment areas; financial aid application; notice to owners of land; directions to owners of land in a mountain catchment area; and application for compensation of patrimonial loss.

The white paper on the water supply and sanitation policy pushes relevant stakeholders to fully commit to participating in the formulation process of water policies. The department of water affairs and forestry recognizes the importance of access to basic water supply and sanitation as a prerequisite for improvement on poverty and under-development as adopted by the government in the Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP). The policy sets out a clear policy course, goals, frameworks, and initiatives to be taken, to herald a new and improved vigor to tackling water supply and sanitation issues in South Africa.

The environmental implementation plan (EIP) seeks to drive coordination and cooperation across government departments, as a means to secure the protection of the environment. Among others, the purpose of the EIP include; to avoid duplication of efforts and promote consistency, improve the level of participation and cooperation from provincial governments, and to secure environmental protection on a national level.

The notice repeals the provisions of the regulations relating to food items identified under the repealed food, drugs, and disinfectants act of 1929.

The Minister declares the area specified in the schedule a marine protected area, with an highlight of boundaries and exact geographic coordinates.

This act is subject to the marketing of agricultural products act of 1996. The statutory measure applies to apples destined for export, import, or domestic fresh consumption. It seeks to ensure availability of market information to all stakeholders in the industry. Persons shall have choices of registering as producers, exporters, importers, municipal markets, retailers, or processors. The measure will be administered and implemented by HORTGRO services, a company established in terms with the companies act, and operates within the purview of the Dried Fruit Technical Services (DFTS).

The section on renewal of registration is added to the schedules of the rules for the property valuers profession of 2008.

The regulations detail the restrictions on the sale of wheat. It also outlines the classes of wheat, standards for classes, grades of wheat, standards for grading, as well as packing and marking requirements, among other guidelines.

The amended regulations operate under the plant breeders’ rights act of 1976. The table detailing “kinds of plants and period of rights” is substituted.

The minister extends the time period of general authorisations, as it pertains to the subsections of the national water act of 1998.

The amendment substitutes items 7-9 in the table of food items and prescribed sodium reduction levels.

This serves as an amendment to the national environmental management: protected areas act of 2003. It makes provisions to authorise the declaration of marine protected areas and their subsequent management, and to effect textual corrections.
