A law to establish the Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency and a Local Government Emergency Management Committee for each Local Government Area in the state and for other matters connected therewith. The functions of the agency is to formulate policy on all activities relating to disaster management and co-ordinate plans and programmes for efficient and effective response to disasters in the State, develop and maintain an electronic data base, co-ordinate and promote research activities relating to disaster management in the State, collate data from relevant agencies so as to enhance forecasting etc.
