The document provides for the syllabus for the surveyors’ examinations. It outlines the duties and powers of the board as to control and examination of pupil surveyors. A person shall be deemed to deposit or dump harmful waste under this Act if he deposits or dumps the harmful waste, whether solid, semi‐solid or liquid, in such circumstances, or for such period that he may be deemed to have abandoned it where it is deposited or dumped or to have brought it to the place where it is so deposited or dumped for the purpose of its being disposed of or abandoned whether by him or any other person.

Every Nigerian ship (other than a tanker) of eighty tons gross tonnage or over which uses her bunker fuel tanks for the carriage of ballast water shall be fitted with an oily-water separator in accordance with the provisions of this regulation.

An Act to establish the National Park Service to be responsible for the preservation, enhancement and protection of wild animals and plants and other vegetation in national parks; and for matters connected therewith. It states the objectives of the service the protection of endangered species of wild plants and animals and their habitats, establishment of an ecologically and geographically balanced network of protected areas under the jurisdiction and control of the Federal Government, implement relevant international treaties, agreements or other arrangements regarding, relating to or connected with protected areas and wild- life management to which Nigeria is a party, in so far as the power to implement those international treaties, agreements or arrangements is conferred on the service by the Federal Government.

The decree amends the Food and Drugs Act to provide, among other things, for the prohibition of sale or advertisement of food, etc. as treatment, etc. for certain diseases, including acquired immune deficiency syndrome.

This provides for close season for Tobacco cultivation. In regulation number three it states that the period between the 24th day of December of each year and the 14th day of March of the subsequent year shall be known as the close season for the cultivation of Tobacco and that every person holding, occupying or using land shall take all reasonable steps to ensure that no tobacco weed shall be planted and that no growth from the roots of the previous tobacco crop or from tobacco seed dropped on the land shall become established during a close season.

This is a law to establish the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency and for other matters incidental thereto or connected therewith (1997 No 9). The agency shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal and shall have power to sue and be sued in its corporate name and to acquire, hold and dispose of its movable and immovable property for the purpose of carrying out its functions under this Law. The objectives of this act are to promote the development of indigenous commercial shipping in the international and coastal shipping trade, regulate and promote maritime safety, security, marine pollution and maritime labour. These objectives will be achieved through the establishment of a National Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, the merger of the National Maritime Authority and Joint Maritime Labour Industrial Council, the transfer of the ownership of land and assets currently vested in the National Maritime Authority and the Joint Maritime Labour Industrial Council to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency; and the abolition of the Office Of Government Inspector of Shipping created under merchant shipping (delegation of powers) notice, merchant shipping act, and the transfer of the functions and powers in that notice to The National Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.
