This Act establishes the Chartered Institute of Certified Secretaries and Reporters of Nigeria as a statutory body responsible for regulating the practice of the profession of chartered secretaries and reporters. It lays down conditions for the registration of members of the institute, sets up disciplinary committee and an investigating panel to uphold the ethics of the profession; prescribes penalties for any contravention of its provisions and provides for a governing board which is responsible for policy formulation and implementation. This Act further provides for the appointment of a registrar and assistant registrar for the day-to-day running of the institute.

Executive Order (On the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme) of 2017

This Executive Order permits Federal Ministry of Finance to set up a Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (hereinafter referred to as “the Scheme”) for all categories of taxpayers who have defaulted in payment of taxes due and collectible subject to the fulfillment of the terms and conditions that are stipulated in this Order and other subsequent complementary regulations. The scheme encourages and provides an opportunity for eligible taxpayers to: regularize their tax status for all the relevant years; pay all outstanding taxes; prevent and stop tax evasion; and ensure full tax compliance.

The Federal High Court or the High Court of a state, as the case may be, shall have jurisdiction to try the offences created under the enactments specified in the schedule to this decree. Enactments include the Food and Drugs act and the National Agency for Food And Drugs Administration and Control Decree 1993. Accordingly, a tribunal established in any of the enactments specified in the schedule to this decree is hereby dissolved. A charge, claim or court process filed before a tribunal established under any of the enactments specified in the schedule to this decree shall be deemed to have been duly filed or served before the Federal High Court or High Court of a state, as the case may be and such charge, claim and court process shall be deemed amended as to title, venue and such other matter as may be appropriate to give effect to this subsection without further assurance than this decree.
