The notice, under the environment conservation act of 1989, declares and allocates the name of the Atherstone protected natural environment and issuing of directions relative to the environment.

The notice imposes levies payable on fish and fish products in accordance with section 29 of the Sea Fishery Act of 1988. The levies concern the amount of fish caught by holders of commercial fishing rights, traditional fishing rights or the right to undertake the commercial harvesting of pelagic fish, pelagic baits, horse mackerel, anchovy, and red eye, among others. The notice also defines the method of payment of the levies imposed under this notice.

This represents the protocol on wildlife conservation and law enforcement for the South African Development Community. The protocol affirms the sovereign right to manage wildlife resources in the community and promote the sustainable use and conservation of resources. The protocol applies to the conservation and sustainable use of wildlife resources, excluding forestry and fishery resources. The principles guiding the implementation by member states is enshrined in the protocol.

The regulations herein apply to applications for authorisations, excluding applications for community based projects funded by a government grant or made by an organ of state. Applicants must pay fees before the date of submission to relevant authorities.

The regulations provide for a system of national register of professional hunters, hunting outfitters and trainers. Persons shall not operate as professional hunters, hunting outfitters, and trainers, unless registered in terms of the regulations contained in the notice.

The notice of the minister designates the competent authority and local authorities empowered to issue written authorization for the undertaking of activities in the Pennington Sensitive Coastal Area and the Umtamvuna Sensitive Coastal Area.

The regulations contain guidelines for issuing and usage of ID cards by environmental management inspectors, as well as contents of ID cards.

The regulations make provisions for a general prohibition on the recreational use of vehicles in the coastal zone; identifies procedures for approving the use of vehicles in the coastal zone under specific circumstances; and stipulates measures for the enforcement of these regulations and to prescribe penalties in respect of contraventions. Persons who use vehicles within the coastal zones must ensure usage does not cause harm to the environment; and in cases where harm is authorised or unavoidable, must be minimized.

The notice sets out the fees for harbour activities for all seaworthy registered commercial and non-commercial vessels (fishing vessels, leisure/recreational, and other vessels). The tariffs shall include the slipping and un-slipping of vessels during normal working hours.

The act provides for the declaration and management of provincial parks within the framework of the national environmental management act; it gives effect to international agreements on protected areas, and to provide for the management of provincial parks, under the provisions of the Eastern Cape Environmental Conservation Act

An amendment to the national environmental management act of 1998. Among others, the alterations relate to; redefinitions and clarification of existing definitions; review of environmental management instruments; provision for baseline information to be included in environmental management instruments; provision for the management of residue stockpiles and deposits; and to empower the minister to designate environmental management inspectors.

The norms and standards pushes to set a standard national approach in determining the contamination status of areas; set criterias and methods to apply in assessment procedures; and provide baselines for the assessment of environmental protection measures for remediation efforts.

The act provides for the application of the atmospheric pollution prevention act of 1965 until the air quality act of 2004 sets in. It amends the environment conservation act of 1989 in provisions defining penalties for offences, the national environmental management act of 1998, and the national environmental management: air quality act of 2004.
